About this collection

This collection contains a biographical sketch of Professor J.H. Paarmann (1870-1927). Professor Paarmann attended Iowa State Teachers College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa) and went on to earn his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Iowa. From 1892 to 1896, Paarmann taught school at Blue Grass and served as principal of the Walcott, Iowa, High School. He was curator of the Davenport Academy of Science, later renamed the Davenport Public Museum, from 1902 until his death in 1927. This brief biographical sketch is volume 7 of a series titled "Prominent Men I Have Met, " authored by L. H. Pammel, who was a member of the Iowa State College (University) faculty from 1889 to 1929.
